My daily photo (to make me forget that it’s still winter, and that there’s piles of snow out there taller than me in my yard alone):

All of the melting snow froze overnight, and there is lots of ice out there. The good news is that it appears that snow is NOT in the forecast for the next 10 days. Woohoo! Anyways, it was the treadmill again….

I walked for 5 minutes;
ran for 20 minutes;
then walked for a total of 32 minutes.

Run time: 20 minutes

Friday, February 13

It’s very icy here, and cold. Here’s an example of the ice:

(The power line seems to be okay!)

And here’s today’s weather:

Frankly, I would have run outside, but there’s still a plethora of snow on the ground.

I went on the treadmill again, at around 12.50 p.m.

I walked for 6 minutes;
ran for 8 minutes;
walked for 3 minutes;
ran for 9 minutes;
then walked for 5 minutes for a total of 31 minutes.

Wednesday, January 21

Boy, did I wimp out. I didn’t run yesterday. I had the time (sorta). But first, after a month of avoiding the terrible ice we’ve been having, I finally slipped and fell on my knee yesterday (in my driveway, no less!). The ice is not melting as it usually would, and it’s all over the place, on driveways, sidewalks, and roads. Anyways, I put ice on my knee, and then I met some friends for lunch about an hour south of me. I was prepared to go running afterward, but by the time I got home, it was 3.30 p.m. (the sun sets around 4.30 or so). I wimped out and didn’t go! Oh well!

Today I went running around 1.30 p.m. It’s sunny and 29 degrees F, with a wind chill of 21 degrees F.

I walked for 5 minutes;
ran for 4.5 minutes; walked for 1 minute;
ran for 4.5 minutes; walked for 1 minute;
ran for 4.5 minutes; walked for 1 minute;
ran for 4.5 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 32.5 minutes.

Run time: 18 minutes

Walk time: 14.5 minutes

When I run from home, I kinda mess up the timing. It’s a straight line going out – I turn around at the 15 minute mark, but then I go over 30 minutes before I get home. It’s no big deal, but I just don’t have the hang of it yet! 🙂 Happy running!

Wednesday, January 14

I went out around 3.00 p.m. It was cloudy and 24 degrees.

I walked for 5 minutes;
ran for 4.25 minutes; walked for 1 minute;
ran for 4.25 minutes; walked for 1 minute;
ran for 4.25 minutes; walked for 1 minute;
ran for 4.25 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 31 minutes.

Run time: 17 minutes

Walk time: 14 minutes

It was still very icy, so I had to run mostly on the roads. Hopefully it will warm up by the end of the week!

Sunday, March 2

It’s been three weeks since I’ve been on a run. We had so much snow that I couldn’t run where I live because it’s too icy. Even the weekend that we had the “meltdown” didn’t help. I had to spend that weekend getting rid of the ice and snow from the front walkway and porch so we could use our front door again.

Today I went running at our local college’s farm. They have a trail that’s popular with runners and dog owners (I often walk my dog there). I walked for 5 minutes; ran for 9 minutes; walked for 3 minutes; ran for 9 minutes (albeit very slowly!), then walked back to my car for a total of 32 minutes.

Run time: 18 minutes

Walk time: 14 minutes

It’s supposed to snow tonight (though not as much as they were saying earlier in the week!) and I’m expecting to take a day off tomorrow anyways to rest my legs. Hopefully I’ll be getting back in the groove, if not this week, then next after Daylight Savings Time (my favorite time of year!) is back!

P.S. I can’t believe I failed to mention this: I also fell on my lower right backside–pretty painful! Couldn’t run with that. It was so painful that my lower left backside began hurting from overcompensating! It’s much better now.

Saturday, February 8

Well, I ran on the dreaded treadmill today. I walked for 5 minutes; ran for 9.5 minutes; walked for 3 minutes; ran for 9.5 minutes; then walked for a total of 30 minutes.

Run time: 19 minutes

Walk time: 11 minutes

We’ve had a lot of snow since Monday, and it’s been bitterly cold every night, so the ice is unbelievable. Yuck! I can’t wait for spring!

Here’s a picture of my dog in the sidewalk.
