Monday, July 25

Yesterday was brutally hot, so I wasn’t sure what to expect today, except that I knew it would be in the 70s when I woke up.

I went out around 5.40 a.m. It is clear and 78°F, with a humidity of 89 percent, a dew point of 74°F, and a heat index of 79°F. (This weather info is actually from the nearest town on the mainland.)

I walked for 2 minutes;
ran for 19 minutes;
walked for 1 minute;
ran for 18 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 39 minutes.

Run time: 36 minutes

Walk time: 3 minutes

Taking a cold shower never felt so good!! I usually take a quick shower because I’m covered in bug spray. They can be nasty down here!

Sunday, July 24

Friday night we drove to North Carolina to the shore. The traffic was lovely, because there were hardly any cars on the road! We arrived yesterday before 9 a.m., but I wasn’t going to go running after staying up all night!

Today I went out around 5.30 a.m. The sun wasn’t up yet, but it was up by 6.14, and I was already back at the homestead. The weather now is partly cloudy and 77°F, with a humidity of 91 percent, a dew point of 75°F, and a heat index of 80°F.

I walked for 2 minutes;
ran for 36 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 39 minutes.

Run time: 36 minutes

Walk time: 3 minutes

It was a rude awakening to put on my bathing suit! I was skinnier last year because of all the kayaking! Ah well – I need to do more all around exercising!

Wednesday, July 29

Well, yesterday I did something stupid – I ran on the beach in bare feet. That is, I didn’t go running on the beach – I just ran for a short distance, and ended up with blisters on my big toes. (I was chasing an errant beach ball being blown by the wind!) Fortunately, I have Aquaphor with me for chafing reasons!

I went out around 5.40 a.m. It is clear and 78°F, with a humidity of 76 percent, a dew point of 70°F, and a heat index of 80°F.

I walked for 2 minutes;
ran for 34.5 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 38 minutes.

Run time: 34.5 minutes

Walk time: 4 minutes

Monday, July 27

I went out around 5.40 a.m. It was mostly clear and 78°F, with a humidity of 76 percent, a dew point of 72°F, and a heat index of 82°F.

This was not one of my more pleasant runs, as I had to stop for a pit stop. I made up for it by increasing my minutes.

I walked for 2 minutes;
ran for 34 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 38 minutes.

Run time: 34 minutes

Walk time: 4 minutes

Sunday, July 26

I went out around 5.40 a.m. today (I’m at the beach! Woohoo!). It’s 74°F and mostly sunny, with a humidity of 73 percent, a dew point of 65°F, and a heat index of 76°F. Note that these conditions are after my run, since civil twilight begins at 5.47 a.m.

I walked for 2 minutes;
ran for 33 minutes;
then walked home for a total of 37 minutes.

Run time: 33 minutes

Walk time: 4 minutes

Friday, August 2

Well, this is my last day running at the beach. I took a break yesterday since I had increase my run. Also, I didn’t hear the alarm, and it was raining!

It was a good run, except for this car that was acting bizarrely. Most cars in the morning go in the direction of the bridge to go to the local Marine camp. This car was going toward the end of the island, and it kept stopping. I don’t know about you men, but as a woman, I’m always on the lookout for anything weird such as this. As a result, I went down the wrong street on my way back! Oh well. The car turned out to be harmless, thankfully.

So I walked for 7 minutes, then did the following: 5 minute run / 1 minute walk / 5 minute run / 1 minute walk / 5 minute run / 1 minute walk / 5 minute run; then walked home for a total of 35.5 minutes (I added extra distance when I accidentally went down the wrong road!).

Run/jog time: 20 minutes

Walk time: 15.5 minutes

Yay me!

No running tomorrow, as we’re driving the long drive back home. Have a great weekend!

Tuesday, July 30

Another beautiful day here at the beach! I actually woke up with my alarm this morning, so it was a little brighter when I went out exercising this morning. And, usually when I go out, there’s one way with hardly any wind, and one way with lots of wind. However, today was nearly windless, so I hope that means it will be a nice sunny day! (It rained a lot yesterday.)

My routine is nearly the same as yesterday–I started out with 8 minutes of walking, then 4 minute run / 45 seconds walk / 4 minute run / 45 seconds walk / 4 minute run / 1 minute walk / 4 minute run, then walked home for a total of 33 minutes.

Run/jog time: 16 minutes

Walk time: 17 minutes
