Saturday, January 20

I went out around 1.15 p.m. It was partly to mostly cloudy and 47°, with a humidity of 41 percent, a dew point of 25°F, and winds SW at 9 mph (wind chill of 43°). I actually wore a short-sleeved t-shirt under my fleece jacket and no gloves! Woohoo!

I walked for 2 minutes,
ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute,
ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute,
ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute,
ran for 11 minutes,
then walked home for a total of 47 minutes.

Friday, January 19

What a week!

Tuesday was a rest day.

Wednesday, January 17

It snowed about 6-7 inches, so I consider the shoveling of my front and back porches and my 170-foot driveway to be my exercise.

Thursday, January 18

My friend and I walked for 45 minutes at Vassar Farms.

Friday, January 19

Busy day today. I couldn’t do my entire run, but I did something.

I went out around 3.45 p.m. It was sunny and 35°F, with a humidity of 46 percent, a dew point of 16°F, and winds SSW at 4 mph (wind chill of 31°F). It was a 2-layer day, thankfully!

I walked 1 minute,
ran for 17 minutes,
then walked home for a total of 19 minutes.

Monday, January 15

I hesitate to say this, for fear of Murphy’s Law (saying it will bring something worse, like a blizzard!), but I’m getting tired of running in the cold (teens and below). I had to wear “the works” again today.

I went out around 11.15 a.m. It was mostly cloudy and 19°F, with some lazy flurries and a humidity of 59 percent, a dew point of 8°F, and winds gusting N at 8 mph (wind chill of 11°F).

I walked for 2 minutes,
ran for 12 minutes,
walked for 1 minute,
ran for 12 minutes,
walked for 1 minute,
ran for 13 minutes,
then walked home for a total of 42 minutes.

They are predicting snow for tomorrow, so tomorrow might be my “rest day.” However, they are also predicting snow showers for Wednesday, so we’ll see!

Sunday, January 14

Last night I was thinking that I should measure the weather in terms of how many layers I wear. So Wednesday and Thursday were 2-layer days (long-sleeved shirt, flannel jacket), Saturday was a 3-layer day (2 long-sleeved shirts, flannel jacket) with neck warmer, and today was “the works” – 2 layers of leggings, 5 layers (silk turtleneck, 2 long-sleeved shirts, flannel jacket, polyester shell), 2 neck warmers, and a hat.

I went out around 12.10 p.m. It was sunny and 18°F, with a humidity of 37 percent, a dew point of -4°F, and winds gusting NNE at 11 mph (wind chill at 6°F – hence the piling on of clothes).

I walked for 2 minutes,
ran for 12 minutes,
walked for 1 minute,
ran for 12 minutes,
walked for 1 minute,
ran for 13 minutes,
then walked home for a total of 42 minutes.

So basically in less than 48 hours, we went from the 60s to the single digits. Amazing.

Saturday, January 13

Yesterday it was rainy and 60°F, so 95 percent of the snow melted. Thankfully we didn’t get the dreaded ice this morning! It just barely snowed, so all the sidewalks are clear!

I went out around 11.50 a.m. It was sunny and 29°F, with a humidity of 63 percent, a dew point of 18°F, and wind gusts N at 15 mph (wind chill of 18°F).

I walked for 2 minutes,
ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute,

ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute,
ran for 11 minutes,
then walked home for a total of 47 minutes.

Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy, but warm. I’m hoping to run anyways, because the rain is supposed to turn to ice Saturday morning, and I’m expecting I won’t be able to run outside. Then we’re getting cold weather again (in the 20°-30°F range).

Wednesday, January 10

I didn’t get to run on Monday due to a service appointment, and yesterday was just hectic.

I went out today around 12 noon. It was sunny and 37°F (positively balmy!), with a humidity of 49 percent, a dew point of 19°F, and winds SW at 7 mph (wind chill of 31°F).

I walked for 2 minutes,
ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1 minute,

then walked home for a total of 47 minutes.
