So I’m trying to increase my running, but I don’t want to end up injured (did I mention my bad knees? No matter!). I walked for 8 minutes, ran for 4 minutes, walked for 1 minute and ran for 3.5 minutes 2 times, then walked for 1 minute, ran for 4 minutes, and walked the rest of the way home.

Run/jog time: 15 minutes

Walk time: 17.5 minutes

  1. Keep up the good effort! Running takes time. Training both the body and the mind to WANT to keep moving forward is the hardest part. If you put in the time and effort it will show.

  2. Keep at it. I am doing something similar to what you’re doing now. After weeks of nursing a broken bone, I just returned to running, actually more walk than run. It’s tempting to go full speed ahead, but that can do more harm than good. Take your time and protect your body, so you can keep running for long and hopefully injury-free.
